On Thursday, Legislative leaders introduced a plan to raise new revenue for schools and services. While this is a good start, we have to keep pushing to make sure we fully fund our schools and family services. With just a few weeks left in the legislative session and $1.4 billion in devastating cuts to schools and services looming, it’s more important than ever that we keep the pressure up. If we don’t raise new revenue this session: 3,000 teachers could lose their jobs and 350,000 Oregonians would lose their health insurance.
On Tuesday, there is an important public hearing in Salem where legislators will listen to testimony about whether to raise new revenue. This is a pivotal moment in our fight for game-changing investments. Legislators need to hear loud and clear that Oregon families are demanding full funding for schools and services. We need the help of all our members in making sure that our voices are heard.
We know that big business interests will be there, lobbying hard to keep their corporate taxes the lowest in the country. So it’s critical that legislators also hear from Oregonians who won’t stand for larger class sizes, more expensive health care, or deeper cuts to disability services.
They need to hear your story. Please join us on Tuesday June 13th for this key hearing! There are hearings at 8:30 am and 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Oregon PTA will be attending the 5:00 pm hearing to submit testimony.

WHEN: Two options! 8:30 a.m. or 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13
