The PTA voted to approve an increase in the Foundation’s spending in its first general meeting of the year.  The increase, from 83k to 99k will add an additional part-time educational assistant to Chapman’s main campus. Currently, the main campus has three part-time assistants who are focused on early literacy efforts in lower grades and to help  with fourth grade’s large class sizes.

Efforts to fundraise for the Chapman playground continue, with grant writing efforts underway. So far, the playground project has raised about one-third of the funds needed to start construction.

A representative from Safe Routes to School visited and presented an idea to start a bike train. PTA is also seeking a volunteer to organize twice-monthly coffees on Friday mornings. Contact PTA president Christy Marten if you are interested in either of these opportunities.
