The second annual Swift Family Run brought out so many of the Chapman community (and sun)! Congrats to everyone!

Proceeds from donations and t-shirt sales helped provide funds to purchase a set of dodgeballs for use in the throwing, aiming, and catching units in Mr. Studt’s PE classes. Thank you!

RACE DETAILS

Get your running legs ready and join the Chapman community for a fun and FREE! morning of running and family activities. Walkers welcome as well! This is an opportunity to engage the whole Chapman community and promote active lifestyles on our beautiful Chapman campus. This year’s event will once again include four distinct events open to Chapman students, siblings, parents, teachers & staff. Sign up for one or more!


LOCATION
Wallace Park (1516 Northwest 25th Avenue)
The event will be held at the large grassy field between the baseball diamonds.

SCHEDULE
9:00 – 9:30 AM – Registration and Bib pick-up
9:30 – 11:00 AM – Races (see detailed schedule)
11:00 AM – Awards

DETAILED RACE SCHEDULE (times are approximate)
9:30 AM – Challenge Mile (under 8 minute)
9:40 AM – Kid Dash (by grade, including Race the Teachers)
10:00 AM – Family Mile (all ages and levels)
10:20 AM – 400 meter (by grade)
10:40 AM – 4 x 400 meter relay

To help make this event a success, day-of volunteers are needed and appreciated! The Swift Family Run Team read the 2018-19 survey results and we hear you. We have volunteer needs on the day of the event that could work well for single and working parents and we can tell you now so you have time to schedule it. Everyone is welcome. Volunteers get a t-shirt!

1. Is this event open to the public?
No, this is a private Chapman community event open to families & staff at Chapman.

2. Are strollers allowed?
No strollers on the course please. We want to minimize congestion and provide a safe route for everyone.

3. Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are not allowed on the course. They are allowed in the park but must be on leash. There is an off-leash dog park in Wallace Park.

4. Is the race timed?
No. This is a fun run. We will have a race clock so you can time yourself.

5. Where can I park?
Parking will be limited. Please respect the neighbors and others who will be at Wallace park for sports or other activities. We strongly encourage you to walk if you are close to the park. Consider it a warm up for your running legs!

6. What is the Family Mile?
There will be two mile events: Challenge and Family. Challenge is for anyone who plans to complete it under 8 minute pace. Family is open to all levels, and everyone is welcome to participate!

7. What is the 4×400 meter relay?
A 4×400 meter relay is a mile race with teams of 4 runners who each complete one 400 meter lap. You can sign up as a team of 4, or part of a team or an individual and you will be placed on a team on race day.

8. Does everyone race at once?
For the 400m and kids’ dash, we will have multiple heats based on grade levels.

9. Is there day-of registration?
Yes, you can sign up on the day-of the race until the events fill up. Each of the events are capped at a limit to minimize congestion on the course.
