This year Chapman Elementary School is entered in the 2019 Walk and Roll Challenge! We kick off the Walk and Roll Challenge May 1, and continue for the entire month of May. We will be joining over 200 elementary and middle schools in Oregon with the goal of promoting active transportation to school. What is active transportation? Biking, walking, and scooting are some types of active transportation. This year we will also be adding taking the bus to our monthly challenge.
KEY DATES:
May 1s – WALK AND ROLL CHALLENGE KICK OFF: Chapman will be having a special event on May 1st to encourage as many students as possible to bike to school. Special prizes for students who use active transportation that day: bike, walk or roll to school.
May 1- BIKE CARNIVAL: For all interested students after school from 2:30 to 3:30 in the grass in front of the school. Decorate your bike, play on your bike, and ride with friends.
May 1 – May 31: We will be working with teachers to provide students the opportunity to keep track of all the days they walk, bike, roll, and bus to school.
RAIN or SHINE, FRIDAY IS BIKE TRAIN TIME! Lets see how many students we can get involved in bike trains on Fridays for the month of May. Get neighbors together and ride to school. And if you plan on riding to school, post your route on the Facebook page and see if anyone wants to meet you along the route!
BUS DAY: Still working on a day to celebrate using the school bus as a way to get to school. Date and info TBD.
