Join the Chapman Bike Train every Wednesday this spring, starting this week! We will have a slightly shorter train route for our weekly rides, see this website post for more info.
We will ride on April 26th, May 3rd, May 10th, May 17th, May 24th, May31th, and June 7th.
What is a bike train? It is a group of students, parents and teachers that all bike or roll their way to school together. With one big train going every week we hope to promote active commuting for the students, teach them bike safety, get them awake and ready for school and we also hope to create a huge presence in the streets of NW Portland. Can we get 30 students to ride together this first week! or more?! How many students can we get by the end of the school year?
If you are up for biking or rolling, check out the attached map, find a stop that is close to where you live or just wait along the route until we come through. Or, if you don’t live close to the route, think about parking close to the train route and joining in. A great place to join is at the corner of 24th & Johnson (downhill ride to school).
And watch this page and the Chimney Flyer for more information on the after school Bike Carnival on May 17th!
A few items to note: Helmets are required. Each student should have a responsible adult riding along. I ask that we try to have a 1 to 4 adult to student ratio to help with train safety. Have questions? Need help finding a bike or helmet? Your student wants to ride but you can’t join them? feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
