Girl Scout Cookies are coming to Chapman! Between Valentine’s Day and Friday March 6th, Chapman Girl Scouts will make sure you have ample opportunity to buy and stock up on your favorite Girl Scout cookies. It’s always a special treat to find some beloved thin mint or samoa deliciousness hiding in the back of the freezer unexpectedly, isn’t it? Make a stop at Chapman’s Front Entrance Lobby either at Round Up or after school on any of the four Friday Round Ups starting Valentine’s Day and ending Friday March 6. For those of you who prefer a non Friday, Thursday 2/27 and Tuesday 3/3 before and after school are meant for you. Chapman Girl Scouts will also be donating a portion of Chapman sales in the form of cookies for staff. Cash and credit card will be accepted.
We have two restaurants participating in February’s Dining for Dollar$. Whether you are in the mood for a quick and affordable family friendly restaurant or getting spoiled at a delicious higher end restaurant for date night or a special family dinner, February has you covered.
Tuesday, February 4 – Laughing Planet at 909 NW 21st Avenue (Kearney is the cross street and right off the street car line) is ready for Chapman. It’s a quick-service restaurant that serves nutritious fare in the form of tasty burritos, bowls, soups, salads, smoothies, juices, and home made cookies. They are dedicated to making wholesome food accessible to regular folks with time constraints, keeping it affordable, fun, and socially responsible. Bike delivery is even available at this location.
Wednesday, February 19 – Olympia Provisions at 1632 NW Thurman Street. They have already generously provided Chapman with a full sized charcuterie holiday board for a previous PTA meeting. They offer a menu inspired by the changing of the seasons. You can sample the endless bounty of Oregon farms and OP meats in a warm setting, accentuated by our antique French rotisserie. Come in for happy hour and enjoy a few of our craft cocktails. You’ll find yourself staying for dinner to sample our ever changing menu paired with Euro-centric and Oregon wines, served by our friendly engaging staff. Consider skipping Valentine’s Day crowds and making Olympia Provisions your special date night celebration. Open from 11 – 10 PM. They accept reservations.
Please spread the word to friends, colleagues, and family.

The Safe Routes to School travel survey is now open!
Complete the survey today and help your school! Schools with 20% participation or more will receive a $100 gift card for supplies. The survey is open until November 8th.
This fall there are some changes – the survey is online only now. Why? It will save the Safe Routes to School team a lot of time, paper and money.
The travel survey helps the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) improve its Safe Routes to School program and helps prioritize safety projects when funding is available. Additionally, the data collected through this survey is key for Safe Routes to School to secure grant funding for safety programming and infrastructure throughout the city.
Students, teachers, families – mark your calendars now! The Swift Family Run will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Wallace Park.
